They were 1-2 finger swipes each, no primer. The last set of swatches just shows how each column of shades layer together – the left side is the 2nd row of duochromes swatched over the 1st row of mattes, and the right side is the 3rd row of iridescent eye toppers swatched over the mattes. I had wanted this ever since it came out, but it took ages to show up in Canada and is still showing as out of stock on Sephora’s website. I wanted to wait until it was stocked online, but ended up caving and buying it in store for my birthday a few days ago. The first row is comprised of matte pigments that had a dry texture with no kickup/fallout; they had minor staining except Banana and Mint Choco, so you may want to steer clear if you are sensitive to dyes. Pigmentation was great; I was especially impressed with Banana as it was very vibrant for a yellow, and lent itself well to mixing with other colours to create new shades. The only one that left something to be desired was Jelly Bean – it can be built up but I found it challenging to attain true-to-pan opacity. The second row was all duochrome shades and I thought that the most impactful shades were Strawberry (pink with a gold flip), Sweet n’ Sour (muted teal with subtle gold flip), and Grape (purple with a violet-blue flip); Orange Creme, Lemon Drop, and Pistachio were much more subtle for me although I definitely detected an iridescence to them. The third row was iridescent pastel shimmers, which lent themselves well to being eyeshadow toppers and highlights. They all performed relatively well, although Sugar Crystals is notable because it is more of a wet-looking shimmer and does not have as much of a white base as its compatriots, so it was harder to pick up and less metallic than the others; it did have the strongest iridescence, however. While all of the shimmers in this palette were easy to swatch, they were a bit more challenging to pick up with a brush and had a clumpy texture that was prone to fallout. I got the best results with finger applications. Wetting them also made them easier to work with, although I usually didn’t have to do that to get sufficient payoff. I think a glitter glue would help with intensifying the colors and minimizing fallout too. I appreciate having more duochromes in my collection, but I wish that the second row’s duochromes were deeper and more intense considering that there are pastel shimmers already, which could be used to lighten colours if needed. I also would have paid good money for an additional row of pastel mattes – I know I could lighten the matte brights with white eyeshadow, but the outcome isn’t as great as working directly with pastels. Otherwise, I think this is a fairly unique take on the concept of the rainbow palette! Consonanta September 29, 2019 / Reply Product list: Eyes: * Violet Voss Sugar Crystals palette: 1. The colors look like they blend really well and they give a really ethereal vibe. Definitely gonna shop my stash and see if I can recreate this, if not I’m definitely going to buy the palette. laverveine26 September 29, 2019 / Reply Should x-post this to r/swatchitforme!
